Position
Cordoba is an urban scenario in the south of Spain. It is the capital of the province of Cordoba in Andalusia. It represents one of the most popular destinations of Spain. Economy

History
Cordoba became a prominent city in the Phoenician period. The town blossomed as a key Roman community in the first century BC. Later it was conquered first by the Visigoths in 572, then by Moors in 711. 756 AD marked Cordoba as the capital city of Spain (at the time of Moors).
And from then onwards the city became known for another 250 years for its wide business and scholarly options throughout the world. 929 AD marked another landmark in the history of Cordoba, when the Caliphate of Cordoba was initiated; from then on the city experienced the peak of prosperity. In the 11th century, the caliphate fell, so material well-being of the city dropped. Furthermore, Seville became the capital.
In 1236, it was occupied by Ferdinand III. He made many new churches since this piece of Spain received Roman Catholicism.
Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption is a cathedral built from the eighth to the tenth century. First, the Moors built a mosque on the remains of a Roman -Visigoth temple, then after Spanish conquest it was changed into the cathedral.
This huge building is very interesting since it combines Moslem architecture and Gothic style. Until 1236 it was a well known mosque. However, in 1236 the cathedral was raised in the middle of the mosque. But the remains of Moslem history are preserved in its name- Mezquita, which is in use even today.
It lies on the banks of the river Guadalquivir. Therefore, it is a very attractive historical site for tourists.
The Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos
The second big landmark of Cordoba is Alcazar. It is the former Moorish fortress which was built on the ruins of Visigoth buildings, and later used as headquarters of the Inquisition. The Moors made many baths, gardens and even a library. In 1236, it was rebuilt but in the Mudejar style. Therefore, the Alcazar kept its Islamic appearance.
Historic Center of Cordoba is under UNESCO protection as a world cultural monument.

Castilla y Leon – a treasure of monuments
Castilla Y Leon is called a place of historical monuments. Interestingly the Government of Spain has made every effort to preserve these monuments which are believed to have been built several centuries ago. These are very beautiful monuments which attract many visitors throughout the year. Let us now go round this town of Castilla Y Leon.
Aqueduct of Segovia:

This aqueduct was built to ensure the flow of water from Fuente River to a city called La Acebeda. The aqueduct bridge is the place where the water flows at a height of about 28.5 meters over the bridge. In other words, the bridge acts as a canal to transport water from one end to the other end. This masterly engineering work has some arches which add beauty to the bridge.
History also says that this bridge suffered some damage when Moors took over the city. However, it was rebuilt in later period. This is one of the very well preserved bridges in Spain. The UNESCO has declared this building as a world heritage building.
Old city of Salamanca:
This is another city which is very close to Castilla Y Leon. Salamanca is popular for the sand stone building built during the Renaissance period. In fact, Salamanca is the nickname for ’La Ciudad Dorada’ which literally means ‘Golden city’. The Villamayor stone which is quarried from a place near Salamanca is of gold color. This city has many buildings which are worth seeing.
In fact even these are historical buildings built centuries ago and they are popular for their beautiful architectural design and aesthetic beauty. The monastery, chapel, convent, palaces are some of the many places worth seeing in Salamanca.

Cambrils

Sanlucar de Barrameda
Overview
The city, Sanlúcar de Barrameda is situated in the Cadiz province which is a part of the Andalusia autonomous community in the southern part of Spain. It is located opposite the national park Doñana on the left bank of the River Sanlúcar. This city is well known for its manzanilla sherry cellars as well as beach horse races. The distance between this city and Cadiz is 52 KM whereas Sevilla is at a distance of 119 KM from this city. The population of this city is about 66000.
History
The origin of the city dates back to the Muslim times. The King of Castile, Alfonso X took Sanlúcar de Barrameda in the year 1264 from the Moors; in the 15th and 16th centuries this became a vital trading port connecting the Mediterranean and the Atlantic coast.
This port was used mainly for ship rebuilding and maintenance with the advent of the New World; in addition it also became the port of departure for different Spanish conquerors. Many maritime exploits were carried out from this port.
Popular ones are as follows:
Christopher Columbus departed from this port on 30th May 1498 for his 3rd voyage.
Magellan began his journey to go around the world from this port and arrived at this port in 1522 after circumnavigating the world. This was the first ship to do that.
Pizarro started from this port to conquer Peru.

Donostia-San Sebastian

Donostia-San Sebastian, the summer capital of Spain is located in the Basque country and is at a distance of 21 KM from the border of France. This town was subjected to a number of sieges over a long period and Napoleon’s soldiers occupied it in 1808 and stayed up to 1813.

Overview
The town Salobreña is located on the Mediterranean coastline Costa Tropical in the Granada province of Spain and is known as the jewel of the Costa Tropical. The town of Toledo in Spain

This castle is located near the famous river ‘Tagus’. The castle is believed to have been constructed during the medieval period. According to historians till the year 1088, this structure was a monastery. In the year 1091, the Christian army conquered the city. Thereafter the monastery was converted into a fortress. Great walls were built around it so as to protect the town from possible Moorish attack.
After the end of Moorish civilization, the castle was deserted because thereafter the significance of the castle was lost. In the year 874, the Spanish government declared this monument as a national monument. This is a beautiful building which is meticulously planned and executed. This Moorish style palace is built on the banks of the river ‘Tagus’. Interestingly, the palace has many characteristics of the Andalusian time. The palace has been divided equally into three parts or into equal naves. The interior of the palace is beautifully decorated with great works of sculpture. Another interesting fact about this palace is in its name.
The name ‘Galiana’ is a fictitious name, representing the daughter of a Moorish King Aljafra which is another fictitious character. The beautiful botanical garden around this palace has enhanced the beauty of the palace. This garden is called AlMunya al Naura which means the Water Wheel Orchard. It is also called ‘King’s garden’. Some historians also believe that some type of water clock existed in this garden. The beauty of the garden was restored by the famous architect Palacio de Galiana who started the remodeling work in the year 1950.
